THE DEDICATED STAFF of Countryside are committed to providing exceptional customer service and veterinary care to your pet. Dr. Brian Holub and Dr. Cindie Davis Holub have been practice owners of Countryside since 1985. Dr. Brian Holub is also the hospital's admistrator. Countryside began as a one doctor practice with 3 employees in a 1,400 sq. ft. building. It underwent its first major reconstruction in 1989 and expanded to 3,500 sq ft., growing from 2 doctors to 3. It was that renovation that earned us national recognition when we received the runner-up to the Hospital Design of the year award. In 1992 the remaining footprint of the property that we had had shared with a construction company was purchased. We updated and expanded our grooming parlor and created much needed internal office space. Prior to our most recent major reconstruction occurred in 1997. At this time we expanded the facility to 10,100 sq. ft. We updated and expanded our boarding facility and created more internal offices to meet the demand of our growing staff. The hospital today has over 70 employees including 8 veterinarians. In 2007 we expanded once more to 15,000 square feet. Our current facility now houses separate ancillary services and veterinary services front offices as well as a physical therapy room, conference rooms and more.
Countryside has been an AAHA member since 1991, with a 4 year-accredited status. We are committed to providing the finest and most progressive veterinary care for our patients coupled with compassion and excellence in customer service.
In March of 2010, Countryside Veterinary Hospital was honored to receive the AAHA Accredited Hospital of the Year award. This, the inaugural year of the award, made their receiving of the award ever so much more humbling and special. AAHA (The American Animal Hospital Association) chose to recognize Countryside Veterinary Hospital as the best hospital in all of the United States and Canada for their outstanding achievement in the following areas (as defined by the AAHA award committee):
Quality of Care:
Providing high level patient care and state-of-the-art services to diagnose and treat companion animals as demonstrated by the practice's adherence to the AAHA Standards of Accreditation.
Teamwork:
Embracing the philosophy that all team members, medical and support personnel alike, play a vital role in the overall success of the practice.
Client Service:
Offering compassionate care and exemplary service in a clean, comfortable environment, while communicating effectively with pet owners on how to best meet their pets' unique needs.
Practice Management and Leadership:
Demonstrating a commitment to continuing education and training for all team members to better serve the patients, clients, and the mission of the practice.
Service to the Community:
Providing considerable charitable contributions including outreach to pet owners, schools, police departments, youth organizations, as well as donations of goods and services to local humane organizations and financial aid to support both human and animal causes.
Countryside was also honored to receive the 2010 Celebration of Excellence Business of the Year Award in May of 2010, presented by Enterprise Bank. This award recognizes local businesses that provide exceptional service, give back to the community, and lead by example. Click here to learn more.
We are proud to have been voted #1 Reader's Choice Award for Animal Hospital/Clinic in our area for 2010 by WickedLocal.com! Thank you for voting for us!
Countryside continues to invest in it's facility and equipment to offer cutting edge technologies. We also invest strongly in continuing education for our entire staff. With our newest expansion underway, Dr. Brian Holub, and Dr. Jacqueline Jacobs completed all course work for CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practictioners) training at the University of Tennesee to become canine rehabilitation providers, as they will be instrumental in the implementation of our new water treadmill system, NMES (Neuro Muscular Electro Stimulator) machine, Therapeutic Ultrasoud machine, and therapeutic laser unit, to be installed during our current expansion. The water treadmill system will be housed in a physical therapy room where Countryside will be at the forefront of offering professional physical therapy treatments to those patients in our area who can greatly benefit from these services, such as senior dogs and those dogs recovering from orthopedic surgery.
CVH is concerned about our community and the world around us. In 2003 CVH started a tradition of walking annually for the MSPCA Walk for Animals in Boston. We offer discounts on veterinary services for those pets adopted from the Methuen MSPCA, or the Lowell Humane Society. And we continue to help the Kitty Angels organization of Tyngsboro Massachusetts. Also, our staff members participate annually in the Council of Chelmsford School's "Community Read-In".
Onsite, we offer tours of our hospital for local scout troops to help them earn their animal care related badges and to teach them about the many job opportunities at veterinary hospitals. When asked, we speak at local schools to provide children with information on proper pet care. In 2005, the hospital staff as a group, donated their own money as well as a hospital matching contribution to the American Red Cross for the Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts and in 2010 did the same to help Haiti after the devastating earthquake. Countryside also works with a local volunteer organization, Chelmsford Cares, to provide free veterinary care and grooming services for Hurricane Katrina pet victims who have been reunited with their owners that are now residing in the Chelmsford area. Dr. Holub and his sons are active members of New England Disabled Sports (NEDS) at Loon Mountain, and help those with disabilities learn to ski and perform other winter sports. We have been supporting the Grace Race, the John Carson road race and the Westford Road Race for many years, as running and cycling were a great passion of Dr. Cindie Holub. The 2010 Westford Road Race was dedicated in her honor.

Dr. Cindie Davis Holub
Cindie started the practice with her husband Dr. Brian Holub in 1985. She attended New Albany High School in Ohio, and received her veterinary degree from Ohio State Univeristy in 1983.
It was in college at Ohio State University, that she met her husband of 28 years Dr. Brian Holub, while both in veterinary school. They married in June of 1982. Over the years, Cindie practiced at Countryside in addition to helping manage and build the practice until her death on February 28, 2010.
Along with her many contributions to the hospital, she was an avid horseman and kept her beloved horse Orion at Volo Farm in Westford, MA. She was accomplished in many equestrian activities. She was a triathelete and had run in many marathons, several half marathons, and several triathalons. Running 3 triathalons just last year alone, it was during training for her first upcoming ironman triathalon this year, when she had her accident.
Cindie was someone that always had an infectious smile and a beautiful laugh. She lit up a room when she walked in and always had a kind word for everyone she met. She was very proud of her husband and her children and was strongly devoted to her family and friends. She also doted fondly on her beloved great dane Penelope and her horse Orion.
An avid runner, the Westford Charitable Foundation, Inc., 2010 Westford Road Race is dedicated to the memory of Cindie Holub. |

Dr. Julie Kopser
Dr. Julie Kopser is a graduate of Tufts University in N. Grafton, MA.
She performed her internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in
Boston, and became an integral part of our hospital when she joined our
staff in 1994.
She has enhanced our hospital with a passion for her work and her love
of learning. Dr. Kopser provides medical, surgical services for dogs,
cats and exotic pets. Medical services include general medicine,
ultrasound, echocardiography and chemotherapy. Surgical services include
soft tissue and orthopedics such as patellar luxation repair and
cruciate repair. One of the most exciting and rewarding cases that Dr.
Kopser has treated combined both medicine and surgery. Using echocardiography, she diagnosed a 4 month old puppy with a serious heart
defect (patent ductus arteriosis) and was then able to surgically
correct the defect with the help of the skilled team of CVH employees.
Along with her veterinary duties, she organizes the student externship
program for veterinary students on rotation through our hospital. She
has serves as a clinical instructor in the ultrasound teaching lab for
3rd year veterinary students at Tufts University. She also furthers her
own studies by attending continuing education programs in the fields of
cardiology, emergency medicine, surgery and oncology.
Her bedside manner is impeccable. Though she loves working with patients
and their owners on a one on one basis, she admits that surgery is one
of her favorite veterinary duties. She is extremely thorough and can be
counted on to give her undivided and complete attention to the pet and
task at hand.
When Dr. Kopser is not working at Countryside, she thoroughly enjoys
being a mom, farming with her husband at a local CSA (Community
Supported Agriculture), hiking and maintaining trails in her town with
her retired greyhound, and training and competing in triathlons with her
mom.
